28th Confession [Lotsa' Action/Video]

[Wolfwood had been taken Sunday night, but surprisingly, they didn't keep him for long. Monday afternoon spat him right back out onto normal Luceti grounds. And to what? To being miniature again. Four years ago, Nicholas had ventured Luceti, looking unkept and nervous. Now, he's still unkept, but in a way that seemed to just be a lack of caring—clean now, free of dirt, but still carrying the bruises of struggle. Where they were once from running amuck on the streets of Gunsmoke, they were now marks of success or failure during training.

His hair is always a mess, of course. Who needs brushes. :|

But that's the least of his concerns! He's more occupied with his cross. Yes, that big, hulking cross, you know. The one Wolfwood could carry without any difficulty? Well, Nicholas has his, and he's busy with huff-puffing across the forest with it. It's on his back, but he's not the usual straight, dignified 20-something. No, he's hunched and might as well be relabeled The Little Engine That Could.

... time for a break. He sits under the trees near the lake, careful to keep away from it, and runs a hand across the journal. He remembers this place... though he never thought he'd be back. Four years may seem long, but really, it's hardly any time at all, is it? The 12-year-old opens the book up and looks at the set-up, remembering.

This thing's working, right? Is this really Luceti, or am I just having a weird dream? Feels real enough... but... I didn't—I mean... I didn't remember it. Why didn't I remember anything? [He runs a hand through his hair.] I shoulda' remembered something like this... even just a little, I definitely woulda' remembered.

Say, anyone knows if there's a kid here with long blonde hair? Blue eyes? Name was Vash. Did he make it back home, or...?

... Guess I should find a way back.

[And so he goes, with some effort at the 250+ lbs on his back! And he's a little lost, because while he remembers Luceti, he doesn't remember it that well to know his way through a dense forest. If anyone'd like to help him out or run into him, that'd be super duper. Otherwise, when he finally does get back to the village, he's hitting up the bakery after walking around to recollect his bearings and memory. One may find him in said bakery with his crazy-ass cross that's still an entire head taller than him, munching on a plate of sweets.

And of course, he'll give the strawhat kitchen a visit. He remembers you, Sanji. Very well. You and your shitty kitchen. Hmm... Challange accepted. He'll consider this task training, too. CAN HE GET PAST ANY OF THE OBSTACLES?! CAN THE FRIDGE BE OPENED WITHOUT DOOM AND DISCORD THIS TIME?!?!]

[Amelia frowns at that.]

How am I supposed to believe you or not if you don't tell me?

[... Can't argue with that. He crouches down to rest on his haunches, looking up because honestly? She'll probably give him a look that says he's crazy.]

Right... You were taken outta' your world and put here by something or someone. This place is just a chunk of land that you're stuck on, until you magically poof home.

[Give Amelia a moment. First she'll be stunned. But then?

[Kid still isn't making sense, and Amelia gives him a flat look when he tells her to look up.]

[Uh. Wait a second. Amelia actually stands up now, and peers harder.]

There isn't another sun. Because this isn't Gunsmoke.

Just give it a look around—does it really seem like our place at all?

I know it's weird, but I swear m'not lying. I've been here before!

[Amelia's still staring into the sky, at least until her eyes start to hurt. Then she'll look back down at the boy, although she's still skeptical.]

It could just be a really rich town. [But that doesn't explain why it's colder than it should be. Or why there isn't sand everywhere. Or the thing about the sun. Amelia doesn't want to believe it, but it's getting harder not to.]

But...how did we get here, if it really isn't Gunsmoke?

Not really sure how we get here. I don't think anyone really knows. All I do know is no one was born here; they came here like we did. And I know for sure it isn't Gunsmoke...

[Well he may know for sure, but Amelia still has her doubts. She fidgets, toying with the hem of her dress.]

So how do you know so much about this place?

Well... I guess I was here before. A few years ago.

I didn't remember it 'til I got back here again, though...

So wait. You're saying you were brought here, then you got sent back, and now you're here again?

That doesn't make any sense. [Another thing to add to the list.] Why would whoever's in charge send you back there if they just wanted to bring you back here later on? And why couldn't you remember it until now?

[Curious girl is curious, and will ask all the questions.]

I'm not really sure why I don't remember it at home, but I think that's how everyone is. If you go back home, you just forget.

I wouldn't know why they keep bringin' me back, though. I've never got to talk to them.

[Amelia rolls her eyes; the kid could just answer her, but no. He has to whine because she's confused. But who wouldn't be confused.

At least he does try, though. Even if his answers aren't very good.]

So did you do anything special to get sent back last time? I don't want to get in trouble when the ladies at the orphanage notice I'm gone.

Mmn... I got taken by the robots. Back to home, I guess—but when I went home, I didn't have any memories of this place.

[He pauses. And maybe softens a feature or two.]

... From a orphanage, huh?

Robots? [Amelia wrinkles her nose.] Are you sure you aren't making this up?

[But she knows that look the boy gives her next. She's gotten it before, when people still hadn't found out her father's name.]

Yeah. My mom died a couple of years ago, so I live in an orphanage now.

Oh... Well, that's okay. I don't have any family neither.

[He just puts his chin on his palms, watching the people walk by. Familiar.]

But you'll be okay here; everyone's pretty nice. And all the food's free.

[Amelia hesitates a second at that. Even if he's a boy (and probably a crazy one), not having family was bad.]

Oh. Sorry.

[The rest of it is good news--at least, it is if it's true. Having lived on Gunsmoke, especially as an orphan and a girl for the past few years, Amelia's automatically suspicious of anything "free."]

Is there a catch or something?

[Mmmm, he itches his head at that.]

I don't know. I heard there are some jerks who kidnap people sometimes. So keep an eye out for anything like that! And then sometimes there are weird things that happen. I don't really know much more than that.

[Amelia nods very seriously at the word kidnapping, and weird things. Out of everything that's happened so far, these are what makes the most sense to a child of Gunsmoke.]

That sounds a lot like home. I'm pretty good at taking care of myself, but I'll be careful.

[Amelia takes a good look at the boy, then, and points at the massive cross. It's something she's been wondering for awhile now, but getting some answers about where they were seemed more important at first.]

Just why are you carrying around that big thing anyway? Isn't it too heavy?

Yeah, it's pretty heavy. But that's all part of my training.

When I get good enough, I'll be able to swing it around like nothin'.

[Amelia looks skeptical at this claim. That thing is massive, and she's sort of wondering how he can lift it at all.]
