13th Confession [Action/voice]
[Of course, Vash wasn't the only kid Legato ran into. The ass confused the hell out of him, but moreover, he wondered if he really was going to be 'trained' by someone. Trained to fight, right? And he said he'd be skillful, too... But right now? He called him useless. Incapable. Just some stray dog.
"If you think yourself capable, that is something you must prove."
Nicholas wanders into town and takes a seat at a bench, with journal in hand. Considers using it—even if it is confusing, and even if he's not the kind to spark up conversation. Instead he simmers a little, brow furrowed, reaching down and shaping snowballs before throwing them at the nearest buildingtotally sorry if he doesn't see you coming around the corner or something. For some reason, he feels like he's done this before. Something about the whiteness of all this is familiar, but... ah, well. He's too busy trying to decipher what that blue haired guy told him.
He was worth something. Wasn't he? Or was what every said true...]
[Voice]
How do y'prove you're worth something...?
[After that, he decides to go back into the forest and try to talk with that Eferin guy. Things weren't as bad as last time; he even got to actually speak to him, without any running or cursing. Even if it meant sucking up to the bastard, just a little. He's in the forest, sitting on the gnarled roots of a tree, lighting and putting out the end of a thin twig. It takes all of his concentration, but it's worth it. His pants leg has a hole burned into it, but whatever burn mark was under it has been wrapped up by a ripped shirt.]

And she believed him.
Re: [ action ]
Was he tellin' the truth?
[ action ]
He might have thought he was, but when it came down to it, before the hero and his friend could escape, he'd 'changed' again.
[That's definite still anger in the undertone there.]
He and his sister attacked them, with a group of elite fighters at their back. The hero was hurt - hurt badly enough that they thought he'd died. And so the prince was welcomed back to his country as a hero, and the real hero and his friends? They had to scrape something else together, on the run again, but they weren't about to give up. They had a plan to take down the whole kingdom, a massive invasion that could have saved the day.
Re: [ action ]
And? What happened then?
[ action ]
[And now we're getting into what she's heard from Sokka, Toph, and Zuko.]
And as the time for the invasion grew closer, the prince started feeling more and more uncomfortable. His father, who he thought would accept him back, had. But the prince felt that what he'd done wasn't right. And in the end, he realized that what his father was doing was wrong.
The princess had learned about the hero's invasion plans, and so the enemy was ready for them. The hero and his friends barely escaped with their lives - and on that same day, the prince left his father, his nation, and his family... and chose to follow the hero, and offer him his help.
Re: [ action ]
And the hero and th'others just let 'em join 'em?
[ action ]
The prince had something that the hero really needed - he knew how to fight with fire. There was no one else to teach the hero how to do this, and if he was going to go up against the most dangerous firebender in the world, on the day where he would be most strong, the hero needed someone to teach him this.
Even then, the hero and his friends didn't want to accept the prince. It wasn't until after the prince proved himself by risking his life for them that they were willing to let him join.
But the girl who'd trusted him once before? That wasn't enough for her. She knew that the prince sometimes had good intentions and changed his mind - so she made sure that he knew, if he changed his mind again, he'd never have another chance to change it back.
Re: [ action ]
[Granted, when he gets older his principles will do some withering—after all, he does end up working, for a short while, for Vash's brother. But if he were older, would he have forgiven the prince...? It's hard to say...]
[ action ]
[Skipping right over what the prince did to earn her trust.]
It's not your usual story, and it's a little bit messy - but I told you it was true. You asked me how you know you can trust someone and the only thing I can tell you is that - you don't know. You just choose to. People can change and people can say one thing but really mean to hurt you or use you - but if you don't trust anyone ever... then you'll end up missing out on a whole lot. And worse? You could become like those people who hurt you in the first place. People need people.
You can't live your life afraid to take a chance.
Re: [ action ]
This story's real important to you, right?
[ action ]
[And lot more personal than she's told... a lot of people. She doesn't expect him to not figure out who the girl in the cave was.]
Re: [ action ]
And... the girl never regretted decidin' to trust people?
[ action ]
No, she did. More than a few times. But in the end? The people that she chose to believe in who didn't let her down, or who did, but made up for it? They were worth it. They were worth all the pain that with the people who'd betrayed her. It was all worth it.
Re: [ action ]
Heh, then... then maybe I'll try trustin' more. If the girl did, anyway.
[ action ]
[She can't help the glance to his bandages, but she figures that one kind of wound is more important than another, and she's not going to push... at the moment.]
Re: [ action ]
Mm... Y'know... it's kinda' weird. This place's really new and different, but I feel like it's familiar. Or somethin'.
I dunno.
[ action ]
Did anyone explain to you about the people who are keeping us here?
Re: [ action ]
Uh—yeah. There's a group a'people who kidnapped us, right? And there's a barrier, so we can't find 'em and stop 'em...
[ action ]
[Or maybe that's exactly it.]
Re: [ action ]
I woulda' remembered a place like this... right?
[ action ]
[...] But it's not so bad being here, right?
Re: [ action ]
N-no, I like it here a lot! Y'don't gotta steal your food, and people don't hurt you or ignore you, and there are things like trees and water!
[ action ]
Re: [ action ]
Y-yeah... there's that, too.
[SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. SO FAMILIAR.
He reaches down, and gathers up a little snow. Packs it, just... like Katara had shown him, back then. He doesn't remember this, but he still does.]
[ action ]
You're not going to attack me while I'm sitting down, are ya?
