[His back feels like shit.

...Maybe an exaggeration, but it still stood—something about the nakedness of his back was driving him insane. And that probably ruined vertebrae? It made him feel awkward and stiff at the shoulders all day prior. Strange how some things are even physically etched into your make-up over time. Forget the mental aspect of it, there's something a little more parasitic about that damn cross.

Behold, Luceti, he's emerging from the Smithy looking a lot more like himself: black suit, sure. Cigarette dangling on his lips, yes. ~~Bitchin'~~ Sunglasses, check. But now he's holding that ginormous cross like a shiny new present all for him. Untouched, it seems. Good. He didn't plan on showing it off any freaking time soon, but... still, he felt like he had to carry it—

Wait, what was he planning on doing with the damn thing? Carry it around the village?

Siiiiigh. Wolfwood, come on, think a little. Just shape up and get used to it...

He slings it over his shoulder like usual and automatically regrets this move.]

[You'll also catching him walking back toward Vash's place with said cross, looking a little less like he's about to kill a small furry creature. Don't mind him too, much... He's just, uh, avoiding forests because holy shit did you hear about the giant wolf?]

Yeah, but we all have them. So unless they're bright pink or something... [A pause.] They're not bright pink, are they?

[Because she'd feel really bad about teasing him after she laughed herself silly.]

[He shakes his head dramatically at the question ~~because he really would have just gone with dying and torn them out if they were pink.~~]

[Ah-ha, she has you now, random stranger.] Sure they are. That's exactly why you're hiding them under your coat, because they don't clash horribly with your hair.

Well, it is a little hot out... but if you don't want to, I'll understand. They're probably yellow polka dots...

[He takes off the jacket and throws it over his shoulder, revealing the two pitch-black wings.]

Huh. You're right. They are black. [She grins at him.] I'm Katara, by the way.

[He smiles and an eyebrow raises. You're a little trickster, trying to get a rise outta' people like that—he excepts it anyway. What's the point in staying negative here, huh?]

Katara, th'name's Wolfwood.

[He extends a hand, still grinning.]

Nice to meet you, wings and all.

[Katara blinks at that extended had for a moment before - vaguely - remembering seeing something like this in Luceti before. Tentatively, not sure if she's doing it right, she extends her hand to take his.]

Nice to meet you too. The wings are part of the package here in Luceti. [She shrugs wryly.] Better to get used to having them for while you're here.

[And congratulations! You just completed a handshake! He has a good-humored smile on his face as he speaks]

I'll be sure to do that, then! And hey, maybe I can figure out a nice work-out routine for them while I'm at it. Make them nice and strong.

Huh. I never thought of that. [A quick grin] But if you're going to start jumping off of buildings, I'd make sure there was something soft underneath. No one's been able to use them to really fly.

Ha, if I ever saw anything flying with wings this tiny I'd probably die laughing; hopefully no one's thinking of trying that out themselves.

[He glances at her with an eyebrow raised.]

...Have people really jumped off buildings trying to use these?

[Some people aren't very bright, so he can't doubt these sorts of possibilities.]

You'd be surprised. [Her own brother has been... particularly firm about warning people about this.]

I hear they do let you hover, though - slow your decent a bit. [Shrug.] But mostly they just make it so you can continue to live here, so it's really important to get used to guarding them.

Understood. I'll take very good care of my wings, cross my heart.

[He points to the waterskin and handy looking equipment at her belt, raising an eyebrow and smiling.]

Hmm, I don't see many things like this back home; then again, our people are so mixed in background that it's hard to make any connections with anything, at this point... a particular culture you're from?

I'm from the Southern Watertribe.

[Katara ignores the question about her waterskin for now, her hand going to the lesser of her weapons.] My brother made this for me here - at home we'd make it out of whale's tooth, but he used metal here.

What about you, where are you from?

[Whale, whale—what was a whale? Hm...]

I'm from a crappy little desert planet, actually. We don't have any oceans or lakes or streams—or forests, for that matter... so it's really amazing, waking up in a place like this.

[He grins and points up.]

Not to mention, I've never got to experience rain before. It was pretty shocking, lemme tell ya'!

[She nods.] I have a friend who is from a planet like that...

[And her smile softens, growing self-consciously wry] I'd never seen spring, before coming here. It's very different in the South Pole - our summers just get a little bit warmer and there are some flowers that grow by the sand, but... mostly it's just snow.

Snow? I'd love to see some of that, sometime...

He's been hearing that a lot since getting here, and it makes him smirk a little. Because, hell, Vash did have a lot of friends now, eh? Must've felt nice losing his usual title. Just to be sure, though—]

You're talking about Vash, then. Right?

[A friend of Vash means that what little caution she has in talking to a stranger completely evaporates.] That's right! You're a friend of his too?

Yeah, we used to travel around a lot together, us two and Meryl and a gal named Milly, back home. And he was aaaalways getting us two into trouble, too. Lucky for me, I was the athletic type.

[As in, 'avoiding bullets and giant sandworms' atheltic. B|]

[She smiles brightly.] He stays with Meryl here too! I'm sure he's glad to see you.

[She... hasn't seen Vash since after the draft. She really should have checked up on him, since she saw the way they dragged him - wearing nothing but at towel - to the transportation site. But she'd been dealing with her own emotional issues after fighting in that war, and then Luceti had kind of... exploded. Still, she feels bad.]

Aaah, he's too emotional about things like seeing old friends. But I appreciate the warm welcome from him and the others, despite it.

[He grins at her.]

And of course he'd make such good friends while I've been gone.

[What's that? I do believe we call it a blush. Don't ask her why.]

Well, I don't blame him for being happy to see you - he's been here even longer than I have.

[Shakes herself, back on target.] So are you settling in all right?

Ha, I'm surprisingly okay with most of what's going on... Which is weird, because I'm typically the pessimistic one in the herd. But it could be much worse, so I'll take what I can get.

Besides, Needle noggin seems to really like it here, even with all the crazy stuff people bring up.
